「PLOT TYPES」

EXPEDITIONS

Expeditions into the depths of Uruk are the most common mission, undertaken for many possible purposes, like: defeating threats to the group, scavenging supplies and useful intel like map data, and trying to figure out the nature of the city and why they're there. If someone dies and the group has to retreat, a mission may entail recovering their body within 24 hours so there's a chance of revival.

While fighting threats will certainly factor in, these missions can sometimes be solved with stealth, diplomacy with groups like the Nim, or destruction of dangerous objects within the megastructure. In some areas, mysteries must also be investigated and solved. Many plots may require desperate escapes from nanite storms. Exploration and having to make sense of what's been left behind in the derelict city will heavily feature.

This missions will sometimes feature original threats like the Anzu, Gidim, or Nim, or sci fi and horror elements phased into the megastructure from a variety of canons.

MULTIVERSE MISSIONS

Missions can occur in a variety of worlds, including ones in other genres besides sci fi horror, like fantasy or pure sci fi. These missions will still, nevertheless, often have dire stakes due to the threats to these worlds, and reveal a connection between the multiversal threat and Uruk, providing a chance to find out more about the megastructure's nature.

While accomplishing objectives to these missions will often involve saving residents of a world, they'll be in fairly complex situations where the objective may be slightly at odds with the will of the people they're dealing with, something they'll have to figure out how to navigate.

PLAYER PLOTS

Players can run player plots of any size, including gamewide. If they want to run a smaller plot, they can do one that has limited sign ups, either picking a player or character cap and allowing others in by RNG or first-come, first serve, or by setting up a private plot with pre-picking characters involved.

If running a plot open to all, or a large enough plot that it'd be difficult to run another plot alongside it, plot runners may be asked by the mod to make minor tweaks, like ones involving timing or providing certain OOC info to players. While plot-runners can say no to any request for any reason, they need to be comfortable with this communication potentially happening if they plan to run a large plot.

The mod can provide useful info, scavenged goods, or discoveries to be the end result of these plots, if players would like to tie them into the main game plot. Otherwise, they can just be run as the group running into and overcoming a sci fi horror threat while, say, doing a scavenging run.

MOD PERMISSION

Players are allowed to run events like a group fighting enemies or solving a mystery while scavenging without mod permission. If an enemy is entirely original and not based on an existing canon or the game's npcs, it'll require less permission, and can be handwaved as displaced from an unknown dimension.

Plots need permission over the following:

  • if the plot is gamewide ie the sign ups are open to all players.
  • if the plot will involve an attack on the group's base, change the group's base in a permanent way, or damage vital equipment like the comms in a permanent way
  • if the plot uses any named npcs from the npcs page, the Anzu, or the Nim
  • if the plot will allow something powerful to be discovered.
  • If the plot will involve finding resources or information (the mods will just let you know what they can find)
  • if the plot involves threats from other canons displaced in. (The mods just want to make sure it's not a canon they have plans for already. If it's a canon they don't intend to touch on, you can run it.)
  • If the plot is meant to be initiated by Ishtar instead of PC motivated.

NPC SIGN UPS

If someone wants to play a character from outside the group that's a periodic villain but wouldn't want to play them as part of the group since they'd be so antagonistic, they may.

Unlike the PCs, NPCs don't have to fit any of the power rules. Make them as much of a pain in the ass as you want. It will be treated as if the unstable dimensional effects are what drew them into the game setting and that they never received augmentations or limitations from Ishtar.

For villain npcs, keep in mind that ICA = ICC. Under some circumstances, it may not be possible for the villain to be protected from the consequences of their actions.
